From our mine in western Queensland we found this pretty magenta and blue sparkly boulder opal. It is quality crafted in solid 18ct yellow gold with swinging bail and 0.028ct diamond. The opal is a natural boulder opal NOT doublet.
Stone size: 7mm x 4.5mm
Pendant length: 16.5mm
Inside bail width: 4.5mm long x 2.5mm wide.

What is Boulder Opal?
Boulder opal is the term used to describe precious opal that has formed as part of ironstone boulders by impregnating the boulder and in-filling cavities and cracks (either partially or fully). The opal quality may be uniform throughout the vein or may vary with different patterns and colours. Potch bars or intrusions of potch and ironstone will affect quality. The larger and more uniform patterns of colour are generally found in horizontal veins and pockets. The vertical veins generally produce bar patterns and can also carry gem colour and patterns. It has been highly polished with a 1mm hole drilled through sideways and complimented with 2 x 6mm bronze/copper coloured freshwater pearls and 2 x 4mm sterling silver beads. They are placed on a nylon coated stainless steel wire with solid sterling silver fittings. Opal size: 18.5mm long x 10.5mm wide at its longest and wides point.The pendant length is 42cm.
